Ghione Pledges New Direction for New Jersey Young Republicans

The New Jersey Young Republican Federation has a new leader.

On Saturday, Bergen County Republican Organization’s Executive Director Giancarlo Ghione won a nearly 2-1 victory after a late entry into the race just four days before the convention.

Ghione told Save Jersey on Wednesday that his primary goal is to retool the New Jersey YRs’ focus as an organization, from what he viewed as a largely social organization into a fundraising and campaigning force.

“Over the past few years the New Jersey Young Republican Federation used their money to send people to the National Convention or to pick up tabs for meetings,” explained Ghione. “This needs to and will change.  Focusing on growing the Party, raising money and GOTV is the new direction we will are heading. The Democrats are going to take note when they see a boost in membership of the NJYRF.  There is no reason we cannot do this, and we will do this.  I was a part of doing it in Bergen and cannot wait to help the whole state do the same.”

Ghione was endorsed by and continues to work closely with New Jersey Chair of Chairs Jose Arango who has promised to help beef up the bona fides of the organization; it’s been reported by other news sites that Arango may be line for the NJGOP Chairman position should Kim Guadagno win the gubernatorial primary on June 6th. Ghione also enjoys a close relationship with Assemblyman Ciattarelli which his allies say puts the NJYRF on strong footing for the organization no matter who wins the primary.

“Our Organization should not just be about work.  There is a comradery we share, and when we have events to show the fun we have when more likeminded people will come,” he added. “On that note, I hope to see you at our masquerade party in upcoming months.”

The rest of the Executive Board is rounded out as follows:

NJYRF Endorses YR Unite for YRNF Leadership

The New Jersey Young Republican Federation is pleased to announce its endorsement of Michael Thulen, Jr. and the YR Unite team, to lead the Young Republican National Federation for the next two years. As a result of New Jersey’s adoption of ‘unit rule,’ all 24 New Jersey votes will be cast for YR Unite and its candidates.

"I am honored to have the unanimous endorsement from the New Jersey Young Republican Federation for myself and the entire YR Unite team," said Dennis Cook, YRNF Co-Chairman and YR Unite's candidate for Chairman. "The New Jersey YRs, with leaders like Michael Thulen, Jr. and Brendan Quinones are poised to continue making a huge impact not only in New Jersey and the Northeast but throughout the YRNF for the Republican cause. I am thrilled to have the support of this stronghold of the Northeast and appreciate their desire to build and Unite the YRNF."

YR Unite candidate for YRNF Assistant Treasurer, and former NJYRF Chairman Michael Thulen, Jr., was equally excited about New Jersey’s endorsement, stating, “it’s comforting to know that my home state will be supporting YR Unite at the upcoming YRNF National Convention in Chicago, not just for the fact that I am a candidate for YR Unite, but also, because I know that states like New Jersey will be well-served through YR Unite’s development plan.”

Members of the NJYRF Executive Board expressed their confidence in YR Unite following their endorsement vote. “We are truly thrilled to announce our support of YR Unite and its candidates,” said NJYRF Vice Chairwoman Vicki Chadwick. “The YR Unite leadership team offers the experience needed to move the YRNF forward.” NJYRF Chairman Brendan Quinones agreed, stating, “members of the Executive Board and I have gotten to know many of the YR Unite candidates over the past year, and have the utmost confidence that with people like Dennis Cook and Michael Thulen, Jr. at the helm of the YRNF, the sky is truly the limit.”

The Young Republican National Federation will elect new leadership for a two-year term at its upcoming National Convention, which will take place in Chicago, Illinois, from July 29th to August 2nd. Please contact the NJYRF at for more information.

NJYRF Thanksgiving Food Drive

Young Republicans,

The NJYRF will be holding a food drive for Thanksgiving, and we are asking that each county affiliate pitch in to make to make the food drive as successful as possible. Ideally, it would be quite helpful if each county affiliate helped us to spread the word through social media, as well as at your upcoming meetings and events.

We will make arrangements to pick up donations from the individual county affiliates, so please, don’t worry about having to travel to Englewood. If we all work together on this project, we can make a significant difference in ending hunger this Thanksgiving.

NJYRF Vice Chairman Brendan Quinones is leading up this project, so if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to him at (201) 638-3244 or .

NJYRF Chairman's Invite Announcement for YRNF Board Meeting

Dear Young Republicans Friends,

I am so very happy that the NJYRF will be hosting the National Board Meeting this summer, followed up by or annual Summer Bash event.  The NJYRF members always have a blast at our summer event and we can't wait to show our friends across the nation how much fun the summer is on the Jersey Shore.

The hosting committee (NJYRF) of the Summer Board Meeting and I wanted to thank the YRNF Executive board with helping to lower the package price for the first 100 registrants.  The new package pricing will be $85 per person until the 100 mark is reached, then raised to $100.  The hosting committee and friends of the Young Republicans will be going out to local sponsors and donors in order to offset some more of the cost that will be incurred to make the event even more fun.

With the help of Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian and his staff we have been able to receive heavily discounted pricing for our event at the Resorts Hotel and Casino along with the Summer Bash at the Steel Pier.   As most know Atlantic City is one of the Jewels of New Jersey and a major summer destination for people up and down the East Coast.  With so many visitors in the summer months and the peak of summer the same time as our event, conference space and hotel rooms come at a premium.  With this in mind we have called in many favors to make a really great event at a lower cost for the National Young Republicans.

Atlantic City has many things to offer the night and days the attendees will be in town.  There are the beautiful beaches, fine dining, great entertainment and of course awesome casinos.  Information about these activities and more can be found at DO/AC and the Resorts website.  Also on the DO/AC site and most travel sites you can find information on other hotels near Resorts Hotel and Casino.

We understand with the summer room rates during weekends in AC can be high.  With that in mind, Resorts has made the best offer they can for our time period, however many lower price options are within walking distance or a short cab ride.  We are also offering a block of rooms at a nearby Holiday Inn Express for $129 a night.  This is a great rate at a familiar hotel, which will have shuttle access to the boardwalk and the Conference.   If you need some assistance or advice booking your travel to Atlantic City please contact New Jersey Vice-Chair Brendan Quinones.

We look forward to announcing our speakers and special guest soon.  There will be a wonderful slate of Republicans and supporters to be sure.

I personally look forward to welcoming all the National Young Republicans to my home state from across the U.S. Until then please follow us on our Facebook page and website.   Tickets and room block information can be purchased and found on our website as well.

See you soon on the Jersey Shore.

Michael Thulen, Jr.
